About the artist
Eva Lizette Mireles works mainly in soft pastel, the most direct way to put pure color on paper. Most pieces begin as a small color study and are built up in many thin layers on Clairefontaine Pastelmat.
The subjects are close to the heart: wildlife, scenes of faith, beloved pets and flowers. Oil pastel comes out for bolder, more expressive pieces like figure studies.
The paper tone is left showing in places and the grain of each stroke stays visible. The aim is a picture that glows up close and holds together from across the room.

The finished piece is signed and framed under glass with spacers so the pastel never touches the glazing.
